Final Six Blog
Last week was our show week for Six the musical, it was a very long and challenging week as we all felt very tired, although this definitely paid off as the show turned out amazing with so many positive reviews from our audiences.
We started the week with tech and dress rehearsals on Monday and Tuesday which allowed us to get used to doing the show in the performance space and with costumes on, being able to run the show properly with all the lights, music and costumes definitely brought the show to life and made it all feel a lot more exciting.
On Wednesday we performed the show to our first audience, which was primary and secondary school students from the surrounding areas, I wasn't sure what to expect from this performance as I didn't know what the reaction would be from this audience, but all around the reaction to the show especially from the younger primary age students was very positive and they really seemed to enjoy the show and found it very funny.
Then Thursday was the day for our first two performances, I was both excited and nervous to get started, as I was ready to show everyone the brilliant performance we've been working on, but I also didn't want to allow the nerves to get the better off me and potentially mess up.
Fortunately the performances all went very well and I feel that I pushed myself very hard for the performances to deliver my best, I made sure to focus heavily on my facial expressions as this can be something that I lose while performing as I distract myself by trying to remembering the dance movements and execute them well.
I felt that my performance in the show was an example of how I have progressed and improved since starting the performing arts course, at the beginning of this course I very much lacked in confidence and found it difficult to believe in myself when it came to performing, especially in terms of dance and singing because I have mainly focused on acting for a while even though I want to improve my skills in the areas. In this performance however I went on stage and tried my absolute best to deliver a performance that I felt showed me as a performer.
