Reflection on Mock Performance
Before watching the video
Last Wednesday we had our first go at performing our solos in the space, this meant with the lighting and staging, I was excited to be able to do the performance this way as I felt able to get into the character more with the different atmosphere. I was still feeling very nervous before the performance, however when it came to performing I know I tried to do my best. I'm really happy with how my performance went with it being my first solo mock performance in the space, in terms of my strengths I feel that this was my characterisation and projection as I really tried to show every emotion the character was feeling throughout the song in both my face and my movements, but also my vocals as the character goes from calmer to angrier at certain points in the song.
In terms of feedback I received, there is areas of my vocals that I need to work on especially when I sing higher, this can happen especially because of my nerves and as my throat may close up, I am going to work on this by finding some vocal exercises to help open up my voice. I also need to be cautious on how I move as I was moving back and forth when I was behind the sofa, I am planning on improving this by deciding on what I am going to do while I am behind the sofa so I have a plan and this will help my performance to be better overall and further portray the characters emotions.

After watching my solo performance video back I feel that the positive elements of it where my characterisation on my face and trough body movements, I was able to show when the character was calm and then angry and how this emotion changes the dynamic of the performance and the way I sing the lyrics. I am also happy in terms of my vocals at the beginning of the video and how they reflected and set the tone for the solo, however I want to work further on my physicality and what the rest of my body is going to be doing especially in moments such as when I am standing behind the sofa as I appeared unsure. I also need to further work on my vocals on the higher parts of the solo as I can hear that I was beginning to struggle on those.
For my solo I received feedback on my stage presence and vocals, this was what I was going to do when I am stood up as in the performance I began to move back and forward a lot as I was clearly unsure as what to do at the moment, to improve this I am going to create a plan before my next solo of what I am going to do physicality, I also was told that I need to be careful and work on the higher sections of the song where I can loose my voice a little, which I am aware is because of my nerves, to improve this I am going to find some vocal exercises that will help to open up my voice and vocal range for the next performance.
Targets
Target 1 (Breath Control)
In terms of my breath control in my performance, I felt that there had been some improvement in contrast to where I was when I first began rehearsing the song, however I do feel that there is still room for improvement and hopefully in my final performance I'll be able to see an improvement.
Target 2 (Stage Presence)
For my stage presence I felt that I tried my best to let loose and really go for it in my solo performance although I was very nervous which can hinder this, in my final performance I am going to push myself even more in hopes to perform to the best of my ability.
